Firms typically keep their marketing plans very, very private for one of two very different reasons: Either they're too skimpy and management would be embarrassed to have them see the light of day, or they're solid and packed with information . . . which would make them extremely valuable to the competition.
The final stage of any marketing planning process is to establish targets (or standards) so that progress can be monitored. Accordingly, it is important to put both quantities and timescales into the marketing objectives (for example, to capture 20 percent by value of the market within two years) and into the corresponding strategies. Marketers must be ready to update and adapt marketing plans at any time. The marketing plan should define how progress towards objectives will be measured. Managers typically use budgets, schedules and marketing metrics for monitoring and evaluating results. With budget, they can compare planned expenditures with actual expenditures for given period. Schedules allow management to see when tasks were supposed to be completed and when they actually were. Marketing metrics tracks actual outcomes of marketing programs to see whether the company is moving forward towards its objectives (P. Kotler, K.L. Keller).

There are several types of marketing firms, and hiring the wrong one can result in a loss of money and time. It’s also important to consider budget constraints. A company should not hire a marketing firm that is beyond its budget, but it should also use caution if it chooses a less expensive (and likely less qualified) firm that may not be capable of delivering the goods.  
At HubSpot, we’ve built our marketing team from two business school graduates working from a coffee table to a powerhouse of over 200 employees. Along the way, we’ve learned countless lessons that’ve shaped our current content marketing strategy, so we decided to illustrate our insights in a blog post to teach marketers how to develop a successful content marketing strategy, regardless of their team’s size.
In 2014, an industrial engineering company hired TopSpot Internet Marketing to improve the quantity and quality of traffic to its website. The project focused on paid search for Google and Bing. TopSpot Internet Marketing developed, executed, and managed all paid search campaigns. When someone does a search on google, google displays results ranked in order of how relevant the web page is to the keywords used by the searcher. these are organic results – and the higher a page ranks, the more people click on it. So, if the widget maker can get its web page that talks about “inexpensive industrial widgets” moved up from page 10 of the search engine results to page one for searches on that term – those 100 visits a month might increase to 1,000 or more. the primary marketing discipline that focuses on improving organic search visibility is called search engine optimization, or SEO.

As we mentioned earlier, keyword strategy is not a one-time event; instead, it is an exercise in continuous improvement. while many firms are content with implementing a coherent program, the real winners are the firms that always look for ways to improve. Careful review of site performance, ppc campaigns and social media metrics reveal new keyword opportunities, underperforming pages and hidden gems.
Though it's not clear, behind the corporate objectives, which in themselves offer the main context for the marketing plan, will lie the "corporate mission," in turn provides the context for these corporate objectives. In a sales-oriented organization, the marketing planning function designs incentive pay plans to not only motivate and reward frontline staff fairly but also to align marketing activities with corporate mission. The marketing plan basically aims to make the business provide the solution with the awareness with the expected customers.
