After you have identified your buyer personas, the next step is figuring out how these personas think and ultimately make the decision to buy. According to Hubspot and adopted by all those who believe in the inbound marketing methodology, there are three steps in the buyer’s journey: Awareness, Consideration, Decision. Each of these stages are major opportunities for you as a marketer to nurture your potential customer by providing valuable content about the product and or problem they are trying to solve for. Here are three stats from a Forbes.com article that prove just how important content is in nurturing a prospect throughout the buyer’s journey:
The final section of your plan includes a brief breakdown of the costs associated with each of your tactics. So if you plan to exhibit at three trade shows per year, for example, you'll include the costs to participate in the shows and prepare your booth and marketing materials. If you find the tactics you've selected are too costly, you can go back and make revisions before you arrive at a final budget.
You might remember a time when keywords seemed to be the end-all, be-all of content. Writers and editors would twist themselves into knots trying to get the right keyword in a blog post the right number of times. These days, the focus is more on the reader and less on keyword stuffing. BUT, content marketing keywords still matter. Here’s how and why you can use them to take your content marketing to the next level.
For example, Google Trends shows you what search topics are popular right now. If you have an AdWords account, you can use Google’s Keyword Planner tool to learn more about search volume for specific phrases, as well as to generate new keyword phrases. Google also has another tool, Correlate, which lets you look at searches that correspond to real-world events.
Agreed - Those who are to implement them should be committed to them, and agree that they are achievable. The resulting plans should become a working document which will guide the campaigns taking place throughout the organization over the period of the plan. If the marketing plan is to work, every exception to it (throughout the year) must be questioned; and the lessons learnt, to be incorporated in the next year's .

At this stage, overall marketing strategies will need to be developed into detailed plans and program. Although these detailed plans may cover each of the 7 Ps (marketing mix), the focus will vary, depending upon the organization's specific strategies. A product-oriented company will focus its plans for the 7 Ps around each of its products. A market or geographically oriented company will concentrate on each market or geographical area. Each will base its plans upon the detailed needs of its customers, and on the strategies chosen to satisfy these needs. Brochures and Websites are used effectively.
Thanks Asim! I know agencies still list themselves on local directories even though they are providing services nationwide or globally. So even if you don't have a physical store or place that customers go, that can still be listed to get those directory listings. If you have no address at all, it would be better to focus on niche-specific directories as opposed to local directories. But I'd only go for those that appear in search results for keywords that you are targeting or ones that are linked to reputable organizations in your industry.
After defining your distribution channel(s), it’s time to make sure that you really need to deliver your product or service. First of all, you need to define the message that should be conveyed to your buyer personas. Afterwards, let’s look at suitable promotion channels that can be used to acquire new customers. Obviously, they should be channels you can find your buyer personas in. But the range of possibilities still seems to be endless.
Captured thinking: You don't allow your financial people to keep their numbers in their heads. Financial reports are the lifeblood of the numbers side of any business, no matter what size. It should be no different with marketing. Your written document lays out your game plan. If people leave, if new people arrive, if memories falter, if events bring pressure to alter the givens, the information in the written marketing plan stays intact to remind you of what you'd agreed on.
In 2014, we discussed the value of customization – which is commonly practiced among digital agencies, stating that, “By establishing and maintaining a partnership with their clients, digital agencies find it easier to customize a strategy built around trust and respect. Whether it is a web development project or a marketing campaign, everything is specialized to fit specific demands. This is a far different business approach from the traditional client/agency paradigm.”
Essentially the Advertising and Promotion section of the marketing plan describes how you're going to deliver your Unique Selling Proposition to your prospective customers. While there are literally thousands of different promotion avenues available to you, what distinguishes a successful plan from an unsuccessful one is the focus - and that's what your Unique Selling Proposition provides.
Of course, you'll also want to make sure to check out the history of each term and figure out if it's worth targeting. Some marketers will find a keyword/phrase that isn't consistent, but still cycles back around every so often with an interest spike. It can be helpful to work those into your overall strategy because they come with occasional peaks of interest you can take advantage of later.

Interesting article on utilizing keyword research in the full-spectrum marketing world. I can imagine the ubiquitous usage of focus keywords positively affects your organic rankings better for some areas than others. As in your website's organic rankings in search engines will get more of a boost then let's say your social media profiles. If I'm wrong, could you tell me where you see most of the results coming from when optimize your keyword research?
The political environment of your business plays an important role in your company’s well-being. For example, an unstable political system could be the cause of changing circumstances, thus a varying purchasing power of consumers. Other variables influenced by the political environment are trade restrictions or the extent to which legislation is passed.
Firms that are successful in marketing invariably start with a marketing plan. Large companies have plans with hundreds of pages; small companies can get by with a half-dozen sheets. Put your marketing plan in a three-ring binder. Refer to it at least quarterly, but better yet monthly. Leave a tab for putting in monthly reports on sales/manufacturing; this will allow you to track performance as you follow the plan.
In the new world of inbound marketing there are a handful of strategies that are paramount. These strategies can also be useful when researching competitors. Using email and social media, and surveying the content landscape, will give you an immense amount of knowledge about your competition. Here are some quick tips on understanding who you’re up against:

Today, most business purchasers looking to buy a product or service start the process by using a search engine to find vendors and product information. How can you make sure that your business is found when these people are looking for you or your competitors? You need to make sure you rank high in the search engine results, for as many search terms as possible, and hopefully for many of the terms that are searched for more frequently. The first step toward ranking high in the results for the most common terms that people search for is to have the right keywords as part of your online presence.

IBM. I never thought I'd say this, but the evidence is irrefutable. When Big Blue avoided bankruptcy by combining its hardware, software and consulting businesses to become the world's first vertically integrated IT services e-everything company, by creating a ginormous market out of thin air, IBM (IBM) became a de facto marketing company and an awesome one at that. After all, who doesn't want a smarter planet?

Google and other search engines report the search volume for all search terms, enabling firms to gauge the relative popularity of keywords relevant to their business. If the search term “inexpensive industrial widgets” is used 10,000 times a month and the term “high quality industrial widgets” is used 1,000 times a month, we know that “inexpensive” has ten times the online demand of “high quality.”
"After my first discussion with Chris, it was clear to me that he and his group possessed the right knowledge, skill sets and vision to help my brand grow its recognition through these mediums... I would recommend Forthea to anyone who is looking to create awareness for their product or service via a package of tools available through the internet. Forthea brings a great energy and certainly fantastic creativity to the table and shows great potential to increase commerce through communication for just about any business platform in any given medium."
When it comes to brainstorming, sit down with your team and think about phrases and words relevant to your brand. You can think of this as brainstorming ideas for content topics, as it’s very similar. For example, if you are creating content for a company that produces vacuums specifically designed for pet hair removal, your list of keywords and topics might look like this:
It's important to check that you have a mix of head terms and long-tail terms because it'll give you a keyword strategy that's well balanced with long-term goals and short-term wins. That's because head terms are generally searched more frequently, making them often (not always, but often) much more competitive and harder to rank for than long-tail terms. Think about it: Without even looking up search volume or difficulty, which of the following terms do you think would be harder to rank for?
There is a lot that goes into creating an inbound marketing plan. But when it’s done right it can be one of the most valuable assets your marketing department has. As we like to say at Vital, “Plan the work; Work the plan.” To help get you started we have included a marketing plan template with accompanying excel calendars to help you plan and track throughout the year.
In the simplest of terms, content marketing keywords are words or phrases that describe what a piece of content is about (as Moz puts it). A few years ago, keywords tended to be short phrases. For instance, keywords such as “haircut Philadelphia” or “cat hair” were an easy and obvious pick for marketers in those niches. But search has evolved, both in terms of how people search and how search engines process and sort information.
Many business owners (mistakenly) treat their website as if it were an online brochure. This is a serious error! Your website is not a brochure, it’s a virtual sales rep with a built-in sales funnel (and if it’s not, it should be!). But, no matter how great your website is, it can’t generate leads and sales without traffic. Let Blue Corona show you how to create an online marketing strategy that works—transforming your web presence into a lead generation empire!
Back in 2016, Revenue River Marketing worked with a construction products distributor to redesign its website. The client's old website was slow, making it a less than ideal resource for communicating with customers and providing top-notch customer service. Revenue River Marketing led the redesign and ensured the updated website had e-commerce features that integrated with the client's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Revenue River Marketing then went on to create content for a blog and social media sites.
Google's AdWords Keyword Planner tool is another common starting point for SEO keyword research. It not only suggests keywords and provides estimated search volume, but also predicts the cost of running paid campaigns for these terms. To determine volume for a particular keyword, be sure to set the Match Type to [Exact] and look under Local Monthly Searches. Remember that these represent total searches. Depending on your ranking and click-through rate, the actual number of visitors you achieve for these keywords will usually be much lower.
FedEx. Commentators are forever saying how dumb corporate name and logo changes are. Well, they're clueless. As with anything else, name changes range from dumb to brilliant and everything in between. Adopting the viral conjunction "FedEx" allowed Federal Express (FDX) to capitalize on its leadership in express mail while diversifying into ground and other business services. It was brilliant. And its advertising has been groundbreaking, as well.
If you value taking your time to make sure everything is right, you don’t want to partner with a company that cuts corners and focuses on producing quick campaigns. It will make it hard for your business to work with that Internet marketing company. If you want to have the most effective campaign, you need to partner with an Internet marketing company that is on the same page as your business.
Joint ventures and partnerships are agreements you forge with other organizations to help reach new customers or better monetize existing customers. For example, if you sold replacement guitar strings, it could be quite lucrative to partner with a guitar manufacturer who had a list of thousands of customers to whom it sold guitars (and who probably need replacement strings in the future).
In a recent post, Bluetext Creative Director Jason Siegel described the differences between a top digital marketing companies, top marketing companies and top marketing agencies. The answer was in the range of services they provide. In this post, we’ll answer another frequently asked question: What’s the difference between a marketing firm and a marketing agency? This is more than a trivial question, and and it can be confusing. But here’s one reason why it is an important question to address: The term “marketing firms” (as well as “top marketing firms”) is by far the most widely used search term when looking for information on vendors that provide marketing services.
When you’re just starting out this may not be the best option as you will want to grow your network, but over time you will realize that having larger clients is far more beneficial to you for a number of reasons. The downside is if you decide to conduct business fully on a percentage of spend model because there are many internal factors within businesses that are going to dictate budget. Some of these factors are within your control (results) but many others are not (internal decisions, seasonality, other costs). You don’t want to get into a situation where your client is spending a very small amount per month and you are only getting 10% of that with the expectation of being on calls and putting the time into it.
The internet has allowed for the hackiest of hacks to experience success. Due to the fact that there are so many low-quality agencies out there, it provides the client with far more peace of mind when your business caters to those who are just like them. Being the “insert niche here” Agency gives you the social proof and expertise to confidently speak to the needs of these individuals their organizations. It gives you an added layer of trust and relatability that is so often lost in this industry.
The downside to this model is that unless you have great insight into the operations end of the client’s business, it’s going to make billing them extremely difficult. For SaaS businesses and companies with complex sales funnels, this pricing model would be a complete nightmare. I would only suggest this model for ecommerce or clients selling things directly. That way you can assess how many sales you have driven and do the math that way. Another downside to this is the fact that it relies heavily on the product being sold. If there is a significant profit margin, then it makes sense. Otherwise you may be giving yourself unnecessary headaches.
One aspect of strategy which is often overlooked is that of "timing." The timing of each element of the strategy is critical. Taking the right action at the wrong time can sometimes be almost as bad as taking the wrong action at the right time. Timing is, therefore, an essential part of any plan; and should normally appear as a schedule of planned activities. Having completed this crucial stage of the planning process, to re-check the feasibility of objectives and strategies in terms of the market share, sales, costs, profits and so on which these demand in practice. As in the rest of the marketing discipline, employ judgment, experience, market research or anything else which helps for conclusions to be seen from all possible angles.
